About HSLA

The Health Science Library Association (HSLA) started to provide extensive services and programs to its members. The association will support to health science librarians and healthcare professionals to sharing the bio-medical information in Gujarat. The association also helps medical librarians and health science professionals to access the most current information available on a plethora of medical and health aspects. 

The HSLA provides a professional update to the medical & paramedical librarians. It Provides a platform to cooperative networking activities in areas of library cooperation and its allied aspects. The association shall perform to update formal and informal resources to their associates keeping in mind the need of the hour for resource sharing, strengthening, and utilization of for the betterment of effective clientele services end-users.

Vision

The Health Science Library Association (HSLA) has faith in the quality information which is essential for health enhancement. The HSLA aims to provide alliance of the most visible, valued and trusted health information experts. To achieve this, HSLA promotes excellence in the professional practice and leadership in health science library and information services; thereby contribute to the quality of health care, education and research across the state.

Mission

The Health Science Library Association (HSLA) has following functions:

• Serve members by promoting mentorship and leadership.
• Develop leadership skills through exploring new roles, knowledge and skill update.
• To assist in recruitment and retain individuals to the profession by promoting health sciences librarianship.
• Be the leading education facilitator of a profession by expanding the workshop and training programs to meet needs.
• Demonstrate a value of quality health information by promoting the ethical value of a profession.
• Develop and manage knowledge-base health information and research by promoting the creation of professional evidence-based research.
• To build a network of experts working in different areas to develop a local, regional, national, and international partnership.

Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay Medical College, Rajkot

Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay Medical College, Rajkot was started in June 1995. It now admits 150 students per year and is the fastest growing medical college of Gujarat with the target of providing subspecialty education in 15 branches of Medical& Surgery. It is affiliated with Saurashtra University, Rajkot.

Central Library is situated on 4th floor of Medical College Building. Central Library is enriched by various medicinal Books and, Journals, Back-Volumes, Thesis, C.D.s, Audio-Video Cassettes, Daily News-Papers which are issued to students and staff members for academic use. Above all Central Library has an excellent facility of computer systems along with Internet accessibility which can also be used for an academic purpose; online journals; literature is made available by the Central Library. Central Library also makes it available subject books to all Scheduled Tribe’s students year-wise free of cost.  Reading Room at ground floor is also made available for students & staff for easy & quick accessibility which has a separate sitting arrangement for U.G. & P.G.  Students & the reading room remains open on all days and 24×7, so as to access by students & staff.
